The Stonehearth's current price on Steam is $25. I was mostly happy with the line that Linux would be released once the main game development was complete (I'm patient, there's no rush), but nonetheless.Įven if you take the view that my position above is relatively niche, you should probably look at this through a more pragmatic lense.

This is because I bought it on the promise that there would be a Linux release (and I've not got any Windows machines I can use for gaming).

Not the person you're replying to, but: I paid £12 for the game, and have so far played zero hours on it. No wonder they wanted Stephanie to stop praising them so much in the videos, they must've felt they don't deserve it. I'm very strict when it comes to shitty game developers and publishers, I haven't bought a EA or UPlay title in many years and I will continue to boycott all those who support or actively work on damaging practices that destroy the gaming community as a whole. Honestly, if refunds were possible I would get one at this point, if I see any of the developers in another studio in a position where they have anything to say I won't purchase a product from them. Honestly, the last few patches I actually thought it was a sign of the development picking up and going into the right direction, after a lot of engine work we finally come to the point where we can fill the game with content, not abandon ship halfway through.

Please go back to the original Kickstarter page and tell me you see the game you tried to advertise back then, the game you really envisioned when you planned this all. I just don't think I can recommend it to anyone.

Perhaps if they had worked off an existing engine instead of building their own they wouldn't have run into so many problems and they would have had more content to boot.Īll that said however, I feel like I've gotten more than my money's worth and the game is still a lot of fun. Doesn't feel like enough for such a long time in development. Upcoming will be bug fixing, one last class and I assume some more polish on northern alliance. I wasn't a Kickstarter, but I feel bad for the ones that did that won't get some of the things they backed for, especially the Linux port. The mason and weaver still barely have any recipes, and the engineer is as pathetic now as when it was first introduced when we thought there would be more coming for the class.Ī big chunk of the Kickstarter goal promises getting cut is definitely not good. The third faction is just released in unstable and though I like the aesthetic it feels almost like an afterthought. There are bugs now that were around back then still, and content is on the light side. Development has definitely taken a lot longer than I expected. I love it to bits, but this is pretty disappointing. I have well over 400 hours of playtime clocked in on the game. I've already played 100+ hours and I wouldn't be surprised if that doubles before I'm done with the game. If I had stumbled on this without the KS promises and history, it would seem pretty dang good. Still, at the end of the day, I feel like we ended up with a solid game. Hopefully we get a lot of new blood when 1.0 launches. It's cool that's an option but I worry if the community is gonna be there long enough to really flesh them out.

Now we're gonna have to depend on mods for that. Most enemies, more quests, more craftables. Now that the main systems are finally finished I was hoping the team would spend the rest of the year just cranking out content before declaring the game finished. What bums me out is there's still so much potential here. Totally understand if other people feel let down. I got almost all of the promised content I was interested in (only personally gonna miss the dwarves). I'm bummed, but not because I feel let down from backing it.

We still have one big content update and half a year of performance and bug fixes.
